Where it came from
The Kairos-Palestine document, A Moment of Truth, emerged from a coalition of Palestinian Christian leaders in 2009, reflecting a deep desire to articulate a theological response to the ongoing occupation. This specific 2012 edition, published by BTESSC in Chennai, India, serves as a bridge for the Global South, contextualizing the Palestinian struggle for justice within broader ecumenical and post-colonial theological movements. It acts as an educational resource, intended to spark dialogue among churches in India and abroad regarding the ethical dimensions of the Palestinian experience.
The text itself is a manifesto of non-violent resistance, emphasizing the importance of hope and the belief that the land holds a sacred character for all who dwell there. Its design and compilation by the BTESSC—the Board of Theological Education of the Senate of Serampore College—reflect a commitment to solidarity and critical social engagement. The publication was received as a significant instrument for social justice advocacy, aiming to mobilize international Christian communities to examine the theological justifications for political structures and to advocate for a just peace.
