Kaiser, Konsuln und Kolonen: Studien zu Kaiserzeit und Sp atantike

Klaus-Peter Johne’s Kaiser, Konsuln und Kolonen: Studien zu Kaiserzeit und Spätantike was published in 2007 by Dr. Josef Kovac, a publisher specialized in academic and scientific monographs. The collection represents a comprehensive assembly of scholarly essays penned by Johne, a distinguished historian known for his rigorous analysis of Roman social and political structures. The work focuses on the evolution of imperial governance and the shifting dynamics of the late Roman Empire, particularly the transition between the principate and the late antique period.

The volume serves as a critical retrospective of Johne’s research into the socio-economic status of the coloni and the influence of the senatorial elite throughout the Roman imperial era. The design and presentation reflect the traditional standards of German historical academia, prioritizing dense, evidence-based discourse over decorative elements. It was received by the historical community as a substantive contribution to the field, offering nuanced insights into the administrative and agrarian challenges that defined the late antique world.
