Knowledge of the Higher Worlds

Rudolf Steiner first compiled the essays that form this work, originally titled 'Wie erlangt man Erkenntnisse der höheren Welten?', between 1904 and 1905. Published during the foundational years of the Anthroposophical Society, the text serves as a core guide for his method of spiritual development, intended to provide a systematic approach to meditative practice and the cultivation of inner faculties that he believed could allow an individual to perceive spiritual realities.

The 1969 edition from Steiner Verlag in Dornach, Switzerland, reflects the long-standing efforts of the Rudolf Steiner Archive to preserve and standardize his lectures and writings. Steiner’s design of the material was purposefully pedagogical, focusing on rigorous self-discipline and moral grounding rather than occult experimentation. While his work attracted significant interest in early 20th-century European intellectual circles, it remained a foundational, albeit controversial, manual for practitioners of Anthroposophy throughout the century.
