Marco Frascari's Dream House

Marco Frascari’s Dream House was published posthumously in 2017 as a critical exploration of architectural theory and the phenomenology of the home. Frascari, a renowned Italian architect and theorist known for his focus on the intersection of drawing, construction, and the poetic imagination, intended this work to serve as a culmination of his lifelong inquiry into how spaces are constructed in the mind before they take physical form. The text delves into the relationship between the inhabitant and the domestic environment, framing the 'dream house' not merely as a structure, but as a conceptual vessel for lived experience and cultural memory.

The volume was curated to reflect Frascari’s unique pedagogical approach, characterized by a synthesis of rigorous scholarship and metaphorical narrative. As part of the Routledge Research in Architecture series, the design and presentation of the book emphasize the clarity of Frascari’s distinctive voice, which frequently challenged conventional modernist interpretations of space. Since its release, the work has been received as a foundational text in architectural humanities, widely regarded for its ability to bridge the gap between speculative design theory and the visceral realities of building practice.
