Olav Christopher Jenssen bilder 1990-1994

Published in 1994 by the Kestner-Gesellschaft in Hannover, this volume serves as a comprehensive catalog documenting the paintings of Norwegian artist Olav Christopher Jenssen produced between 1990 and 1994. The Kestner-Gesellschaft, a renowned institution for contemporary art, issued this publication to accompany a significant exhibition of Jenssen’s work, capturing a pivotal period in his career as he transitioned into international prominence for his lyrical, abstract compositions.

The book reflects the mid-nineties aesthetic of European art documentation, emphasizing the tactile nature of Jenssen’s paint application through high-quality plates. It offers a detailed look at his process, where he balanced intuitive gestures with structured, grid-like systems. Critics of the era frequently highlighted his work for its ability to bridge the gap between traditional Scandinavian expressive painting and the more conceptual, minimalist movements of the time, solidifying his reputation as a central figure in contemporary Norwegian abstraction.
