Olav Christopher Jenssen--Biographie

Published in 1997 by the Astrup Fearnley Museet for Moderne Kunst, this monograph serves as a comprehensive visual and critical record of the Norwegian painter Olav Christopher Jenssen. The book was released to coincide with the artist's rise to international prominence, documenting a period where his abstract, lyrical style gained significant traction in European gallery circles. It acts as both a catalogue raisonné of his early-to-mid career output and a scholarly examination of his distinctive approach to color and mark-making.

The publication reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of the Nordic contemporary art scene during the late nineties, focusing on Jenssen’s intricate, multi-layered canvases. The design emphasizes a clean, archival presentation, allowing the focus to remain on the evolution of his painterly language. Since its release, the volume has been regarded as a key reference point for curators and collectors interested in the post-war European abstraction tradition, reflecting the museum’s commitment to highlighting influential contemporary Scandinavian figures.
