Perfect Little World

Perfect Little World was published in 2017 by HarperCollins, marking another entry in Kevin Wilson's exploration of unconventional domestic arrangements and the complexities of parenthood. The novel centers on the Infinite Family Project, a social experiment in which a group of young parents and their infants are sequestered in a communal living environment. Wilson draws upon his interest in institutional life and experimental social structures, crafting a narrative that examines the friction between idealistic design and the unpredictable nature of human emotions.

The book’s design and tone reflect Wilson’s signature blend of surrealism and grounded character study. Critics noted that while the premise touches on utopian themes reminiscent of science fiction, the author’s primary focus remains on the psychological evolution of the characters involved. The work was generally received as a thoughtful examination of whether a controlled environment can truly foster a better way of living, further establishing Wilson’s reputation for dissecting the oddities of the modern American family.
