Pinnock's Improved Edition of Dr. Goldsmith's History of Greece

Originally published in the early 19th century, Pinnock’s editions of Oliver Goldsmith’s histories were foundational pedagogical texts in the English-speaking world. William Pinnock modernized Goldsmith’s 1771 work, adding detailed questions, notes, and geographical references intended to make the study of ancient history more accessible to school-aged children and students. These textbooks were ubiquitous in 19th-century classrooms, serving as a standard introduction to the Greek narrative for generations of pupils.

The 2023 edition by Creative Media Partners is a modern reprint designed to preserve these historical educational resources for contemporary libraries and researchers. By digitizing and reproducing the original text, the publisher seeks to maintain the accessibility of Goldsmith's influential prose and Pinnock's instructional methodology, offering a window into the evolution of historical education and the specific editorial conventions that defined textbook design two centuries ago.
