Saga Pelplińskiej Biblii Gutenberga

Saga Pelplińskiej Biblii Gutenberga, authored by Father Antoni Liedtke and published by the Pelplin Diocese in 1980, serves as a scholarly chronicle of one of the most significant bibliographic treasures in Poland. The book was produced to document the history, acquisition, and unique characteristics of the Pelplin Gutenberg Bible, a rare 42-line edition held at the Pelplin Seminary library since the 17th century. It provides essential context regarding the document's survival through turbulent historical eras, including the Second World War.

The publication was designed as a definitive historical account, intended to educate the public and the academic community on the preservation efforts surrounding this medieval masterpiece. Liedtke, an expert in ecclesiastical history, crafted the text to highlight the theological and cultural importance of the volume. Upon its release in the early 1980s, the work was well-received by historians and bibliophiles for its meticulous detail and for shedding light on the clandestine efforts to protect the Bible during periods of national instability.
