Sadie's snowy tu B'Shevat

Sadie's Snowy tu B'Shevat was written by Rabbi Jamie Korngold and published by Lerner Publishing Group in 2017 as part of the Kar-Ben Publishing imprint, which specializes in books for Jewish children and families. The story follows a young girl named Sadie as she navigates the challenge of celebrating Tu B'Shevat—the Jewish new year for trees—in a climate where snow covers the ground, effectively bridging the gap between traditional agricultural celebrations held in Israel and the reality of winter in North America.

The book is illustrated by Julie Fortenberry, whose gentle, inviting style emphasizes themes of community and environmental stewardship. By depicting Sadie planting a tree despite the cold and celebrating with indoor rituals, the narrative aims to teach children about the importance of ecological awareness and Jewish customs. It has been noted by reviewers for its inclusive tone and its ability to make a seasonal, geography-specific holiday accessible to children living in snowy climates.
