Strawberry Shortcake and Pets on Parade Parker Brothers Story Book

Published in 1983, this storybook emerged during the height of the Strawberry Shortcake phenomenon, a licensing juggernaut that originated from American Greetings illustration designs. Parker Brothers, better known for board games, expanded into the children's literature market during the early 1980s to capitalize on the franchise's massive popularity, which had already successfully transitioned from greeting cards to dolls and television specials.

The book was authored by Kathleen N. Daly, a prolific children's writer who frequently collaborated with Western Publishing and other houses on character-based narratives. The design and illustrations followed the established visual style of the Strawberry Shortcake universe, emphasizing the pastel, fruit-themed aesthetics created by Muriel Fahrion. Like many character-driven tie-in books of the era, this volume served as a supplemental piece of merchandise meant to deepen the connection between children and the expanding cast of characters and their animal companions.
