Provenance

Where it came from

Originally released in 1957 on Capitol Records, A Jolly Christmas from Frank Sinatra was the singer's first full-length holiday album. Arranged and conducted by Gordon Jenkins, the record was crafted to capture a sophisticated, intimate mood, moving away from the more orchestral, high-energy holiday sounds of the era. It features a blend of traditional carols and secular staples, anchored by Sinatra’s nuanced, relaxed vocal delivery which helped define the standard for the modern American Christmas aesthetic.

The 2014 reissue serves as a high-fidelity restoration of these original recording sessions. By this point in musical history, the album had long been cemented as a quintessential seasonal staple, celebrated for its warm arrangements and the chemistry between Sinatra and the Ralph Brewster Singers. Critics and listeners have consistently noted the album's enduring influence, citing its role in establishing the template for the 'crooner-style' holiday record that remains a dominant fixture in popular music culture today.
