Where it came from
A Stór's A Stóirín was released by Gael-Linn, a label renowned for its pivotal role in the preservation and promotion of traditional Irish music and language. The project is a collection of traditional Irish lullabies, specifically curated and performed by Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin, a highly respected sean-nós singer and researcher. The album was conceived to document and revitalize the intimate, domestic repertoire of Gaelic song, drawing from oral traditions that were increasingly at risk of being lost to time.
Garry Ó Briain provided the musical arrangements, balancing the delicate, emotive vocal delivery of Ní Uallacháin with nuanced instrumental support. The production reflects Gael-Linn's signature approach of prioritizing authenticity and cultural depth over commercial trends. Upon its release, the record was well-received by traditional music enthusiasts and scholars alike, serving as both a functional collection of lullabies for modern families and a significant archival contribution to the canon of Irish folk music.
