Where it came from
This commemorative CD was released in 2006 to mark the 280th anniversary of the founding of Saint-Louis, a significant commune on the island of Réunion. Produced by the labels SEDM and OASIS, the project served as a cultural tribute, bringing together a collective of regional artists to celebrate the local history and identity of the city. The compilation acts as a musical snapshot of the Saint-Louis artistic landscape during that period, reflecting the community-oriented spirit of the celebration.
The album features a diverse roster of local talents, including Frédéric Joron, Daniel Sélin, and Carole Boyer, who contributed to a collection intended to foster local pride and preserve the musical heritage of the commune. The design and assembly were managed by the Association Eventail, a group dedicated to cultural promotion within the region. While the release remained primarily focused on the local market and the immediate anniversary festivities, it is recognized by regional collectors as a sincere effort to document the collaboration between Saint-Louis performers in the mid-2000s.
