Arpa Internacional

Arpa Internacional, released in 1999 under the A.R.C.I Music label, represents a specific window into the Chilean musical landscape of the late nineties. This album features the harp as a primary melodic instrument, reflecting a period where instrumental folk and easy-listening adaptations of international standards gained traction in South American markets. The project was conceived as a showcase for Alberto Rey's arrangements, aiming to bridge traditional Andean-inflected harp techniques with a broader, globally accessible repertoire.

The design and production of the record align with the standard aesthetic for independent music releases in Chile during that era. By focusing on the versatility of the harp, Rey sought to position the instrument in a contemporary light, moving away from purely folkloric settings to include lounge-friendly melodies. While the album remains a niche release within the A.R.C.I catalog, it serves as a testament to the persistent popularity of virtuosic instrumental recordings in regional markets during the final years of the compact disc's dominance.
