Carmen. Suite Per Orchestra N. 1 / Carmen. Suite Per Orchestra N. 2 / L'Arlesiana. Suite Per Orchestra N. 1 / L'Arlesiana. Suite Per Orchestra N. 2

This release was produced in 1996 as part of a DeAgostini subscription series, a popular European publishing model designed to provide accessible classical music education through curated installments. These collections typically aimed to introduce general audiences to foundational orchestral works, repackaging core repertoire in a standardized, affordable format that bridged the gap between newsstand collectibles and formal record store releases.

The disc features Bizet’s best-known orchestral suites, which were adapted from his operas to distill the drama and melodic intensity of the original vocal scores for purely symphonic settings. While the specific recording used for this DeAgostini edition was licensed from a library archive, the selection follows the tradition of presenting Bizet’s vibrant, evocative orchestration as a staple of late nineteenth-century French Romanticism.
