Chante Rimbaud - (Un Projet Musical De Laurent Guardo)

Released in 2023 under the Tandem.mu label, Chante Rimbaud serves as a collaborative project between the acclaimed singer-songwriter Daniel Lavoie and the composer Laurent Guardo. The album is an ambitious artistic undertaking centered on setting the seminal poetry of Arthur Rimbaud to original music, aiming to capture the restless, avant-garde spirit of the 19th-century French poet through a contemporary sonic lens.

Laurent Guardo provided the musical landscape for this collection, crafting arrangements that balance atmospheric depth with the rhythmic nuances of Rimbaud's verse. The project reflects a long-standing fascination with literary adaptation in Francophone music. Upon its arrival, the work was noted for Lavoie’s nuanced vocal delivery, which seeks to breathe narrative urgency into texts that are often treated as static literary canon, resulting in a project that bridges the gap between historical literature and modern chanson.
