Where it came from
Released in 1994 by Sony Music Special Products, this compilation aimed to capitalize on the enduring popularity of the big band sound during the holiday season. The collection gathers recordings featuring core members of the original Glenn Miller Orchestra, including Tex Beneke, Ray Eberle, Paula Kelly, and The Modernaires, who were essential to the band’s signature sound during the late 1930s and 1940s.
The album serves as a nostalgic tribute to the swing era, presenting traditional Christmas standards arranged in the lush, brass-heavy style that defined Miller's legacy. By utilizing these specific vocalists and instrumentalists, the production sought to evoke the precise atmosphere of wartime-era radio broadcasts, offering listeners a curated experience of a sound that had become synonymous with American popular music of the mid-20th century.
