D-Stringz

Released in 2015 on the historic Impulse! label, D-Stringz represents a rare collaborative summit between three virtuosos of the jazz-fusion era: bassist Stanley Clarke, guitarist Biréli Lagrène, and violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. The project was conceived as a purely acoustic exploration, stripping away the electronic textures that defined much of their individual work in the 1970s and 80s. This deliberate shift toward an intimate, unplugged format allowed the technical prowess of each instrumentalist to remain the primary focus throughout the recording.

The album reflects a synthesis of global influences, blending elements of gypsy jazz, classical structure, and contemporary improvisation.
