Where it came from
D'Accord serves as a collaborative exploration between German multi-instrumentalist Rüdiger Carl and Swedish percussionist and composer Sven-Åke Johansson. Released on Johansson's independent label, SÅJ, in 2011, the project emerged from the long-standing improvisational partnership between the two artists, who have been pivotal figures in the European free jazz and experimental music scenes since the 1970s.
The album reflects the duo's characteristic approach to minimalist, avant-garde composition, blending accordion, saxophone, and unconventional percussion techniques. By focusing on silence and texture rather than traditional melody, the record fits within the broader context of their collaborative work, which seeks to push the boundaries of free improvisation through deliberate, understated performance techniques.
