Decem Régis

Decem Régis was released in 2003 by the atmospheric black metal project Ignis Atrum under the independent label Klerik Records. Emerging from the underground European extreme metal scene, the album was conceived as a conceptual exploration of liturgical darkness and historical folklore. The project utilized low-fidelity production techniques intended to evoke a sense of archaic distance, grounding the record in the stylistic traditions of early 2000s niche metal.

The album's visual identity and sonic direction were steered by the project's founder, who sought to blend abrasive, layered instrumentation with haunting, choral-inspired vocal arrangements. Upon its release, the CD was primarily distributed through specialized mail-order outlets and independent record shops. It garnered a modest but dedicated following within the black metal subculture, where it is frequently cited for its commitment to thematic cohesion and atmospheric intensity.
