Provenance

Where it came from

Released in 1996, this collection functions as a promotional or fan-focused compilation centered on German schlager singer Andreas Martin. During this era, Martin was a staple of the German pop scene, often releasing self-curated or fan-oriented compilations to maintain engagement with his touring audience. The project reflects the DIY distribution models emerging in the mid-nineties, where artists bypassed major label machinery to issue their own retrospective mixes directly to their established fan base.

The disc serves as an anthology of Martin's melodic, synthesizer-driven pop style that dominated his career throughout the eighties and nineties. The design and track curation focus on his signature sound—characterized by accessible, radio-friendly hooks—while highlighting collaborative tracks with various guests. As a privately issued release, it sits as a niche artifact representing the personal creative control Martin exercised over his discography outside of the traditional record label constraints of the time.
