Dornröschen: Ballett-Suite / Romeo Und Julia / Polowetzer Tänze

Released in 1988 by the German label Selected Sound, this recording compiles classical staples including Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty suite and Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances. Selected Sound was primarily known for its extensive production music library, catering to film and television editors who required high-quality, royalty-free orchestral recordings for soundtracks and broadcast usage.

The release serves as a functional artifact of the late eighties production music industry, where classical repertoire was standard fare for providing thematic depth to media projects. The design reflects the utilitarian aesthetic typical of archival music libraries, prioritizing clear identification of the tracks for professional use rather than the elaborate visual branding found on commercial pop or mainstream classical releases of the era.
