Dreyfus Night In Paris

Dreyfus Night In Paris is a live concert recording documenting a special collaborative event held at the Olympia in Paris in 1994. The performance brought together a group of elite jazz musicians, including bassist Marcus Miller, pianist Michel Petrucciani, guitarist Biréli Lagrène, drummer Lenny White, and saxophonist Kenny Garrett. The project was intended to showcase the improvisational synergy between these highly individualistic voices, blending post-bop sensibilities with modern jazz-fusion elements.

The release, published by Videoarts Music in 2004, captures the high-energy atmosphere of the live Parisian set. It serves as a significant document of the late Michel Petrucciani’s virtuosity, reflecting his ability to lead and interact within a complex ensemble. Critics and jazz enthusiasts generally regard the recording as a definitive snapshot of mid-90s contemporary jazz, notable for its technical precision and the evident chemistry between performers who were primarily known for their successful solo careers.
