Where it came from
Released in 2006, this recording features German organist Eva Schad performing on the historic Schnitger organ housed within the St. Laurentius Church in Dedesdorf. The instrument itself is a significant example of North German organ building, originally constructed by Arp Schnitger in the late 17th century and later modified by subsequent builders, retaining the distinctive tonal characteristics that define the regional baroque tradition.
The album was produced as a private release, reflecting a focused effort to document the specific acoustic properties of the Dedesdorf organ. Eva Schad, a respected performer of organ literature, utilized the recording to showcase the instrument's versatility through a selection of works tailored to its unique mechanical capabilities. As a niche production, the record serves primarily as an archival reference for enthusiasts of historical pipe organs rather than a commercial wide-release project.
