Where it came from
Released in 2014 by the Keltia Musique label, Femmes de Bretagne serves as a collaborative celebration of the traditional vocal heritage of Brittany. The album features four prominent Breton singers—Annie Ebrel, Marie-Aline Lagadic, Klervi Rivière, and Lydie Le Gall—who came together to preserve and reinterpret the diverse song traditions of their region, focusing specifically on the voices and stories of women in Breton culture.
The project was conceived as a tribute to the power of the female voice in traditional music, blending acapella performances with delicate instrumental arrangements. By bringing together these four distinct artists, the album aimed to showcase both the individuality of their respective regional styles and the unifying strength of the Breton language, receiving praise from folk music critics for its archival commitment and the technical proficiency of the vocal harmonies.
