Gamelan - Muzik Gamelan Untuk Tarian / Gamelan Dance Music = ガムラン・ダンス・ミュージック

Released in 1991 under the WEA label, this recording showcases the traditional Gamelan music of the Jabatan Kebudayaan Universiti Malaya, or the Cultural Centre of the University of Malaya. The project served as a documentation of the ensemble's dedication to preserving the complex, rhythmic Indonesian and Malay musical traditions within an academic and artistic context, focusing on pieces specifically composed or arranged for classical dance accompaniment.

The production aims to capture the intricate interplay of bronze metallophones, gongs, and drums that define the Gamelan aesthetic. By featuring performances from the University of Malaya’s cultural department, the record was intended as both an archival resource and an introduction to the meditative, cyclical nature of regional dance music, receiving recognition from ethnomusicologists for its clarity and authentic representation of the university's performance style.
