"5a Av." - Los Sonidos de Playa Del Carmen - The Sounds Of Playa Del Carmen

Released in 1995 on the WEA label, '5a Av.'—or 'The Sounds of Playa Del Carmen'—was produced as a regional souvenir album intended to capture the burgeoning tropical and dance atmosphere of the coastal Mexican town during the mid-nineties. The project served as a musical postcard, blending contemporary Latin pop, Caribbean rhythms, and electronic lounge elements typical of the era's resort culture, aiming to distill the vibrant auditory landscape of Quinta Avenida for both tourists and locals.

The album was attributed to The Playatown All Stars, a collective of session musicians and producers assembled by the label to provide a polished, high-fidelity experience reflective of the area’s nightlife. While the release was primarily aimed at the regional hospitality and tourism market rather than international charts, it is remembered as a distinct artifact of the mid-1990s Mexican tourism boom, showcasing the polished, rhythmic production aesthetic that defined the period's commercial Latin compilations.
