Where it came from
Released in 2011 on the independent label Ampersand, Go Cry On Somebody Else's Shoulder serves as a defining entry in the discography of the Serbian indie rock band George Dorn Screams. Formed in Niš, the group emerged from a fertile underground scene in the Balkans, drawing heavy influence from the alternative rock and post-punk movements of the late 20th century. This specific release solidified their reputation for blending melodic sensibilities with a raw, introspective lyrical approach.
The album reflects the band's deliberate aesthetic choice to pursue a gritty, lo-fi production style that emphasizes emotional urgency over technical polish. While they remained primarily a regional act, the album was well-received by European music critics who favored the band's ability to balance dissonance with pop-oriented song structures. It stands as a significant artifact of the early 2010s Eastern European independent scene, illustrating the transition of regional guitar-driven music into the digital distribution era.
