Harp "Paradise In Paraguay"

Released in 1998 on the ANS Records label, Paradise in Paraguay is a collection of traditional Paraguayan harp music performed by Alberto Rey. This album emerged during a period when the label was actively documenting and distributing Latin American folk traditions, aiming to showcase the delicate, rhythmic complexity of the Paraguayan harp to a broader international audience.

The album serves as a masterclass in the distinct regional style of the instrument, characterized by a rapid, cascading picking technique and a bright, reverberant tone. While the album itself is a niche release, it follows in the long tradition of South American harp virtuosos who sought to preserve folkloric compositions. It is primarily noted by enthusiasts of world music for its authentic capture of the Paraguayan repertoire, emphasizing melodic clarity over the production-heavy studio trends prevalent in the late 1990s.
