Where it came from
Hello, Jolly! was released in 2012 by Muzak, Inc. as part of an effort to curate and reissue mid-century easy listening and jazz standards from their extensive archival library. The album features the work of the Pete Jolly Trio, a prominent ensemble led by the prolific American jazz pianist and accordionist Pete Jolly, whose career spanned several decades of studio and live performance in the Los Angeles area.
The recordings compiled for this release reflect the distinctive, clean, and melodic aesthetic typical of Pete Jolly’s work throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Known for his technical precision and light, accessible touch, Jolly became a staple of the West Coast jazz scene. This collection serves as a retrospective of that era, capturing the sophisticated, lounge-adjacent sound that made Jolly a favorite among contemporary arrangers and soundtrack composers of his time.
