Where it came from
Released in 1995 on the Rather Interesting label, Interactive Music was a project by musicians Uwe Schmidt (also known as Atom™) and Peter Kremeier. Emerging from the mid-nineties experimental electronic scene, the album was a conceptual exploration into the intersection of technology and composition, mirroring the era's fascination with burgeoning multimedia interactivity.
The album is noted for its idiosyncratic approach to sound design, reflecting the label's ethos of blurring the lines between ambient, glitch, and generative music. Rather than following traditional pop structures, the designers prioritized a malleable sonic landscape. Upon release, the work was received as a niche technical experiment, finding its place primarily among devotees of the burgeoning German IDM and minimal techno movements.
