Provenance

Where it came from

This instore promotional CD was released by EMI Electrola in 1997 as a professional tool for music retailers. These samplers were designed to be played in record stores to preview upcoming releases for customers, featuring a cross-section of the label's diverse roster at the time, including pop mainstays like Robbie Williams and Eternal alongside instrumentalists such as Vanessa-Mae and singer-songwriter Paul Carrack.

The design of these discs typically prioritized functional clarity over elaborate artwork, featuring standard EMI branding to reflect the corporate identity of the label. These items were never intended for commercial sale and were strictly distributed to retail outlets to generate buzz for the featured artists' contemporaneous albums, making them a niche artifact of the 1990s retail music landscape.
