Introducing Glenn Miller And The Glenn Miller Orchestra Volume 2

Introducing Glenn Miller and the Glenn Miller Orchestra Volume 2 was released by the budget-friendly label Going for a Song, catering to listeners interested in the accessible reissue of mid-century big band music. This compilation serves as part of a series designed to provide historical retrospectives on Miller's prolific output, capturing the essence of the swing era and the meticulously arranged sounds that dominated the American airwaves during the late 1930s and early 1940s.

The musical arrangements featured on this collection reflect the signature sound cultivated by Glenn Miller, whose transition from a session musician to an orchestra leader redefined popular music of the period. By emphasizing a reed section where the clarinet doubled the melody an octave above the tenor saxophone, Miller and his arrangers created a smooth, distinct tonal color. While this specific compilation is a secondary reissue, it remains a testament to the enduring public interest in Miller's arrangements, which were originally engineered for radio broadcasts and studio recordings rather than the improvisational style favored by many of his contemporaries.
