Introducing Glenn Miller And The Glenn Miller Orchestra Volume 3

Released under the budget-friendly Going for a Song label, this compilation serves as a retrospective entry in the long-standing catalog of Glenn Miller’s big band output. It was curated to provide listeners with an accessible anthology of his signature swing sound, drawing from the extensive archives of recordings made during the height of the band's popularity in the late 1930s and early 1940s. The production focuses on preserving the classic arrangements that defined the American dance music scene of the pre-war era.

The album reflects the aesthetic common to mid-to-late 20th-century compilation reissues, which prioritized historical archival integrity over the original marketing materials of the original Bluebird or RCA Victor releases. While the liner notes and artwork are minimalist in nature, the collection intends to showcase the distinct reed-section sound—specifically the clarinet-led saxophone voicing—that Glenn Miller pioneered. It remains a utilitarian addition to the vast discography of the orchestra, designed for enthusiasts seeking a cohesive overview of his enduring mid-century legacy.
