Introducing Glenn Miller And The Glenn Miller Orchestra Volume 1

Released by the budget label Going for a Song, this compilation serves as an entry-level retrospective of Glenn Miller’s seminal big band recordings. It was produced to capitalize on the enduring popularity of the swing era, offering a curated selection of tracks that define the polished, brass-heavy sound that dominated the late 1930s and early 1940s. The collection was designed for casual listeners interested in the quintessential American big band experience rather than historical completists.

The album reflects the standard industry approach of repackaging classic masters for the compact disc format during the late 20th century. By distilling Miller's hits into a concise volume, the label sought to maintain the legacy of a bandleader who became a cultural icon during the Second World War. While the design and liner notes are functional and utilitarian, the focus remains on the crisp, rhythmic arrangements that made the Glenn Miller Orchestra a defining entity of the era's popular music landscape.
