Provenance

Where it came from

Released in 2015 by the German label ACT Music, this live recording captures a singular event held at the Berlin Philharmonic. The concert series was curated by Siggi Loch to showcase the accordion as a versatile instrument capable of bridging jazz, folk, and classical music traditions. By placing the accordion at the center of the prestigious Philharmonie stage, the production aimed to elevate the instrument's status beyond its common associations with regional folk music.

The performance features four distinct masters of the instrument: Vincent Peirani, Stian Carstensen, Régis Gizavo, and Klaus Paier. Each musician brought their own national and stylistic influences to the collaboration, ranging from French chanson and Balkan folk to contemporary jazz improvisation. The design of the album artwork adheres to the signature minimalist, sophisticated aesthetic established by ACT, emphasizing the gravitas of the performance venue and the technical precision of the featured soloists.
