Jean-Roger Caussimon Chanté Par Jean-Roger Caussimon

Jean-Roger Caussimon was a multifaceted French artist, renowned as both an actor of significant screen presence and a poet-songwriter of the chanson tradition. This 2002 release by EPM Musique functions as a retrospective collection of his work, preserving the literary depth and satirical edge that defined his mid-century career. These recordings emerged from a period when Caussimon collaborated closely with Léo Ferré, a partnership that brought a darker, more politically charged sensibility to the French chanson landscape.

The design of this compilation serves as a tribute to Caussimon’s legacy, gathering tracks that showcase his distinctive gravelly voice and storytelling prowess. By reissuing this material, EPM Musique sought to maintain the accessibility of Caussimon’s repertoire for a new generation of listeners interested in the intellectual currents of post-war French music. The collection was received as a respectful archival effort, reinforcing his status as a master of the chanson form whose work transcended the commercial trends of his time.
