Where it came from
The 2014 self-titled release by the Jenkinses emerged from the independent, grassroots music scene, reflecting a DIY ethos common among localized garage and indie-rock projects. Produced without the backing of a major label, this project represents the band's effort to document their sound and distribute their music directly to fans at performances and through small-scale online distribution.
The album serves as a snapshot of the group's sonic identity during their active period, characterized by the raw, unpolished aesthetic typical of independent self-releases from that era. Because the production was handled internally by the members, the packaging and distribution often prioritized function and personal connection over the glossy, mass-market standards of commercial record labels, making it a distinct piece of regional musical history.
