Where it came from
Released in 2002 under the Victor label, Jennifer is the second studio album by the French singer Jennifer Bartoli. Following her victory in the inaugural season of the television competition Star Academy, this record served as her formal introduction to the French music industry. It was designed to capitalize on the momentum generated by the show, blending contemporary pop sensibilities with the vocal-forward production style favored by major labels at the time.
The album features contributions from notable French songwriters and producers, aiming for a polished, radio-friendly sound that would solidify her transition from reality contestant to legitimate recording artist. Upon its release, it was met with significant commercial success in Francophone markets, functioning as a quintessential example of the early 2000s surge in television-derived music talent in France.
