Provenance

Where it came from

Released in 1999 on the German label Clubstar, this collaborative CD emerged during a pivotal era for electronic music, bridging the gap between the burgeoning tech-house sound and traditional house grooves. John Acquaviva, a seminal figure in the Canadian techno scene and co-founder of Plus 8 Records, brought a distinctively clinical, innovative edge to the project, while Jamie Lewis contributed the soulful, polished sensibilities that defined his work in the late nineties house circuit.

The collaboration was designed to capture the high-energy atmosphere of European club culture at the turn of the millennium. The design and production reflect a transition period in dance music, where producers were increasingly experimenting with digital mixing techniques. Upon its release, the project was well-received by the club community for its technical proficiency and served as a clear representation of Clubstar's commitment to showcasing the interplay between the underground techno aesthetic and more accessible, dancefloor-ready house production.
