Where it came from
Released in 2011 on the BBrex label, Jolly Good! serves as a definitive document of the unique sound developed by The Mobbs, a band deeply rooted in the Northampton, UK music scene. The album emerged during a period when the group was refining their blend of 1960s-inspired garage rock, mod sensibilities, and high-energy power pop, aiming to capture the raw, spontaneous atmosphere of their live performances within a studio setting.
The design of the release reflects the band's deliberate aesthetic choice to embrace a retro, DIY-informed visual identity that pays homage to mid-century graphic design. By pairing punchy, melodic songwriting with a sharp, nostalgic visual presentation, the album was received as a sincere contribution to the revivalist garage rock movement, earning appreciation from listeners who valued the band's commitment to authentic, unpolished rock and roll traditions.
