Provenance

Where it came from

Kaunis Kotimaamme was released in 2014 under the Tenorisävel label, a project spearheaded by brothers Aarno and Jari Taskila. The collection serves as an ode to Finnish landscapes and cultural heritage, featuring a selection of folk-inspired compositions and vocal performances that reflect a deep appreciation for the national identity of Finland. The album was produced within a tradition of contemporary Finnish light music, aiming to capture a sense of nostalgia and geographic reverence.

The design of the release emphasizes simplicity and pastoral themes, typical of the independent label's aesthetic during this period. By focusing on themes of 'our beautiful homeland,' the Taskila brothers utilized traditional instrumentation and arrangements that resonated with audiences interested in domestic folk music. While it remains a niche release within the broader landscape of Finnish independent music, it is documented as a sincere effort to preserve regional musical motifs through a polished, modern recording.
