Koskelle

Koskelle was released in 2014 as an independent project by the Finnish experimental collective Aarniaallot. The album emerged from the underground Finnish neofolk and ambient scene, reflecting a movement characterized by a deep, introspective engagement with Northern European landscapes and folk-noir aesthetics. The release serves as a documentation of the collective’s atmospheric approach to sound design, blending organic instrumentation with field recordings to evoke a sense of solitude and natural erosion.

The design and production were handled internally by Aarniaallot, staying true to their ethos of maintaining full creative control over their discography. The visual presentation and sonic structure were intended to emphasize a minimalist, textural experience rather than traditional pop-oriented arrangements. Upon its release, the CD was primarily distributed within niche experimental music circles and independent record shops in Scandinavia, gaining a modest but dedicated following among listeners interested in avant-garde folk music.
