Where it came from
Lamia was released in 2003 under the SPEED-DISK label, a prominent hub for the burgeoning visual kei scene in Japan during the early 2000s. The project represents a specific moment in the evolution of independent rock, where artists often experimented with dark, gothic aesthetics and atmospheric composition to distinguish themselves within a highly competitive underground music market.
As a release from the artist ze零ro, this CD reflects the stylistic hallmarks of the era, which prioritized theatrical presentation and stylized sonic layering. The packaging and visual direction of the disc were designed to immerse the listener in the band's carefully crafted persona, a standard practice for labels operating within the visual kei aesthetic to maintain a cohesive brand identity for their artists.
