Where it came from
Laminaire is a 2024 release from the experimental duo ONCEIM, known for their focus on large-ensemble improvisation and contemporary composition. Released through Relative Pitch Records, a label dedicated to documenting innovative jazz and avant-garde music, this work continues the group's exploration of sonic textures, sustained tones, and microtonal shifts that push the boundaries of traditional orchestral instrumentation.
The album reflects a rigorous approach to collaborative sound design, where the performers engage with silence and resonance to create an immersive, atmospheric environment. It is representative of the modern experimental movement, which prioritizes the physical impact of sound on the listener. The release has been received by critics as a sophisticated entry in the contemporary avant-garde canon, lauded for its structural discipline and its precise execution of complex, evolving soundscapes.
