Let The Games Begin

Let The Games Begin was released under the Minor League Recordings label, reflecting the independent spirit of regional hip-hop production during the early 2000s. The album serves as a primary representation of Gametime’s contribution to the local music scene, capturing the raw, unpolished energy common to independent rap labels attempting to bridge the gap between street-level mixtapes and professional studio distribution.

The album's design and production aesthetic were rooted in the functional necessities of the independent industry at the time, prioritizing direct lyrical delivery and heavy, bass-driven beats intended for club and vehicle play. While the album remained largely within a niche, regional sphere of influence, its existence stands as a testament to the prolific nature of independent artists who managed their own promotional and distribution networks during the transition toward digital music consumption.
