Where it came from
Número D was released in 2002 by Illegal Records Argentina, a label operating within the gritty, independent music scene of Buenos Aires during a period of significant economic volatility. The album represents the aesthetic of The Cherry Blues Project, a group that drew heavily from the intersection of blues-rock, experimental arrangements, and the melancholic, introspective songwriting style prevalent in the Argentine alternative rock circuit of the early 2000s.
The design of the album reflects the DIY ethos common among independent Argentine labels of the era, focusing on stark, atmospheric imagery intended to mirror the raw production quality of the tracks. The record was received primarily within local underground music circles as a testament to the persistence of independent artistic expression despite the unstable social and economic climate that challenged the domestic music industry at the time.
