Pas Maar Op Want Deze Tas Is Van Zorro (.. En Zorro Houdt Van Mij)

Released in 2020 on the Dutch experimental label esc.rec., this collaborative album features the duo Plan Kruutntoone alongside pianist Reinier van Houdt. The project emerged from a desire to bridge the gap between traditional folk instrumentation and avant-garde, minimal piano arrangements. Its title, which translates to 'Watch Out Because This Bag Is Zorro's (And Zorro Loves Me),' reflects the whimsical, slightly surreal aesthetic that has defined the work of the involved artists throughout their careers.

The album is noted for its meditative, atmospheric quality, drawing on subtle acoustic textures and field recordings. Musically, it functions as a dialogue between the folk-inflected improvisations of Plan Kruutntoone and van Houdt’s precise, expansive piano playing. It was received as a niche but significant contribution to the European contemporary music scene, praised by reviewers for its intimate production and the organic interplay between the disparate sonic worlds of its creators.
