Rivière

Released in 2024 on the LVP label, Rivière serves as a showcase for the distinctive violin craft of Mirabelle Gilis. Emerging from the contemporary French music scene, the album is a reflection of Gilis's extensive career as a collaborator with prominent artists, here distilled into an intimate solo project. The composition focuses on the expressive, often melancholic capabilities of the violin, moving through atmospheric arrangements that prioritize tonal texture over traditional song structures.

The album's design and sonic direction were helmed by Gilis, who sought to capture a sense of fluidity and natural movement, mirrored in the title itself. Critics have noted the project’s departure from more commercial collaborative works, describing the record as a deeply personal exploration of classical technique meeting modern minimalism. It has been received as a contemplative work, lauded for its production quality and the clarity of its instrumentation within the independent label circuit.
